Mentor will be renamed Siemens EDA from January 2021

In March 2017, Siemens and Mentor Graphics, an EDA supplier, completed the merger. Since its acquisition by Siemens, Mentor has called itself "Siemens Mentor". From January 2021, it will be renamed Siemens EDA.

Joe Sawicki, Executive Vice President of Siemens EDA IC-EDA, announced the name change, saying that the name will bring EDA software, simulation, mechanical design, manufacturing, cloud, Internet of Things and low-code technologies under the unified banner of industrial software. "Mentor has always been a pioneer in the digitalization of electronic design. Siemens has brought world-class digitalization into large systems such as airplanes, automobiles, factories and cities. Connecting electronic design to large systems is our customer's vision." He wrote in his blog .

He is positive about the rate of digitization and its impact on the EDA market. He said: "Whether it is a start-up company or a large system company that creates an internal design team, we see new participants in the IC design market every day. Obviously, this will drive the huge growth of the EDA business."
